I love summer nights… until the mosquitoes invite themselves to dinner.
To be honest, I didn’t want a giant citronella candle or one of those electric zappers that looks like it belongs at a truck stop. What I actually wanted was something bug-proof and pretty. So I made this.
It’s a mosquito and bug repellant centerpiece. It takes 10 minutes to make. It looks good. And most importantly… it actually works.
What I Used
- This planter
- A bag of this.
- Three of THESE
- & I sprinkled these across the top to make it look pretty.
- This to keep the bugs away.
- Use this to start the party.
How I Made This Bug Repellant Centerpiece
I filled the planter with sand, shoved in the containers, and topped it with rocks.
That’s literally it. When lit, this bug repellant centerpiece keep bugs away and look way more expensive than it is.

A Few Hot Tips
- Wiggle the containers deep into the sand so nothing wobbles.
- Don’t overfill with citronella — ¾ full is perfect.
- I bring mine inside when not in use so the rain doesn’t ruin it.
- Add a little rosemary or mint if you’re feeling fancy.
This setup changed my whole porch vibe — and I’m not getting eaten alive every night. If you try this out for yourself lemme know in the comments how it works for you!
