If you’re just getting started with DIY, consider this my little PSA to hold off on buying that expensive table saw.
Seriously. You don’t need it. And to be completely honest with you… I use mine way less than I thought I would.
Don’t believe me? Here is why you may want to buy a circular saw instead…

I need you to hear this loud and clear: you don’t need a table saw to get started in DIY. Believe it or not, you CAN get clean, straight cuts without needing a giant tool that takes up half your garage (or half your paycheck for that matter).
I’m going to point you toward something smarter and much easier, especially if you’re doing a project solo.
This lil’ combo I’m about to show you? It’s a game changer.

Jig + Saw Combo = Perfection
You can use a jig, attached to your circular saw that allows you to cut huge sheets of plywood WITHOUT A TABLE SAW. This will save you time, money, frustration and keep your cuts more accurate making it the best saw for beginner woodworkers.
Why It’s a Better Starting Point
- Way less intimidating: You’re still using a tool you already know, no giant setup or workbench needed.
- Works in small spaces: You can use it on the floor, driveway, or a couple of 2x4s.
- One-person friendly: You can cut full sheets of plywood without help, it’s light-weight and easy to use.

How It Works
- Attach the Rip-Cut to your circular saw
- Set your measurement
- Line up the edge guide
- Cut straight every time — no guessing, no wobbles
It turns your circular saw into a track saw for under $50.
HOT TIPS
- Use a fine-tooth blade for cleaner cuts
- Cut on top of foam insulation or scrap boards
If you’re new to DIY, I promise you, this is all you need to start building confidently.
